Welcome to the Poxvirus Bioinformatics Resource Center. This Center has been established to provide specialized web-based resources to the scientific community having an interest in studying poxviruses. Goals for the site include facilitation of basic research as well as the development of novel antiviral therapies, vaccines against human orthopoxvirus infections, new approaches for the environmental detection of virions, and methods to accomplish more rapid diagnosis of disease.
The Poxvirus Bioinformatics Resource Center was created by a consortium of laboratories, and its development is guided by an Advisory Committee. Funding for this project is provided by the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
